Laker Legacy

In 2010, after many years of consideration, Our Lady of the Lake Parishioners and school parents, decided to embark on a capital campaign to replace a gymnasium built in the 1950’s. The old gymnasium was to be replaced with Event Center which would contain a new one but would also contain a multi-purpose room which would act as lunchroom for school students, a theater for school plays and a smaller meeting space for smaller group.

The Capital Campaign was a giant success and by the time construction began had raised 3.5 million dollars. There were over 300 individual and business donors to the Capital Campaign whose names appear on a recognition plaque located in the entrance to the facility. Construction began in June of 2013 and was completed in January of 2014. In April of that year the Event Center was blessed and dedicated by ArchBishop Peter Sartain.

Even though the construction is complete, we can always use funding for operating and maintenance costs.
